Influencer 'hired thugs to choke ex-boyfriend to death after being dumped' | The Sun

AN influencer hired a gang of thugs to throttle her ex-boyfriend in revenge for ending their relationship, police say.

Isabela Gomes Pereira, 28, from Contagem, Brazil is accused of hiring three men to break into Leandro Rezende's home as revenge for calling things off.

Investigators claim the sleeping 36-year-old was attacked and tied with electrical cables during the incident in June.

He was then choked to death with a power cable from a fan as the gang members kicked and beat him.

Police believe Gomes had intended to scare and injure her ex before matters were taken too far.

The woman, and two of the alleged gang members, are now facing charged of robbery with violence resulting in death.

A third suspect is still on the run, according to police.

A post mortem concluded that Leandro was killed by mechanical asphyxiation due to "neck constriction and blunt cervical trauma".

Gomes is believed to have found the three men – aged 20, 24 and 31 – in neighbouring Belo Horizonte and convinced them to break into her ex-boyfriend's house at night.

As well as beating him, Gomes told them that they could loot his home and split the profits.

On the night of the crime, police believe Gomes picked the men up and drove to the victim's house.

A haul of Leandro’s possessions, thought to be worth up to £15,000, were stolen from the property.

Local media reported that the couple had a history of violence.

In September last year, Gomes alleged that her partner had slapped her in the face and pulled her hair.

And in April this year, the pair fought when Gomes allegedly caught Leandro in a restaurant with another woman.

She reportedly smashed a glass on Leandro's table and scratched his car.
