Major update on Mr Universe bodybuilder Calum von Moger after drug arrest & horror plunge left him fighting for life | The Sun

FORMER Mr Universe Calum von Moger has checked into rehab to fight his addiction issues after a near-fatal window plunge and being busted for drugs.

The Aussie bodybuilder, 32, was left fighting for his life in an induced coma after the mystery fall at his home in Melbourne last month.

Moger, best known for his portrayal of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 2018 film Bigger, seriously injured his spine in the fall on May 6 and underwent a major operation as his fans feared he may never walk again.

Fellow bodybuilder and Youtuber Nick Trigilli claimed the three-time Mr Universe winner was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident after battling a meth addiction.

Moger was awaiting a court date on May 26 after being charged with criminal affray and drug possession and was on bail living with his brother.

Before the plunge, he had shared an emotional message with his fans, admitting he "messed up bad many times".

A member of Moger's team has now revealed the bodybuilder has checked himself into rehab.

They told fans on Instagram: "Some great news for you guys: Calum is on the road to recovery.

"It’s been a week now since he checked himself into a facility. I’m very excited about that.

"It will be a long road. It’s a long process. Everybody who has ever gone through addiction or has had someone in their family with addiction knows that it’s not an easy road."

The team thanked Moger's fans for their support and said it "really helped him get to where he's at today".

They added: "We’ve got some big news coming later in regards to Cal.

"Right now, we don’t know if you guys will hear from him personally in eight weeks, 12 weeks, six months, a year. The best thing for him is to recover; to go through this process."

In the post’s caption, von Moger’s team stressed that recovery was “as important in life as it is in bodybuilding”.

Moger this month revealed his injuries from the horror fall as he posted on Instagram for the first time in five weeks saying: "It's nice to be alive."

Moger also shared a 30-second video from his hospital bed showing his 3.3million followers showing dozens of stitches on his arms, hands and even his face.

He also posted pictures on his stories revealing more cuts to his legs and feet.

DRUG ARREST

While in hospital, he appeared in court via video link with his arm in a sling and pleaded guilty to possessing drugs including testosterone and Viagra.

The court case related to an earlier incident when Moger was found with drugs in his car and arrested on January 31.

He was pulled over after cops spotted his car was unregistered.

The court heard the three-time Mr Universe winner spent a total of 11 days in hospital after the window fall.

Moger pleaded guilty to seven charges including possession of methamphetamine, cannabis, testosterone cypionate, proviplex and Viagra.

He admitted using testosterone for the past ten years as his body can no longer produce it naturally.

Moger also claimed he used Viagra while he was "competing".

His lawyer Bernard Campigli told the court his client was struggling with depression.
