Mark Wahlberg SELLS $16.6M home less than a year after quitting LA

Has Mark Wahlberg given up on Vegas already? Actor has SOLD $16.6M townhouse, less than a year after quitting $90M LA mansion and vowing to make Sin City the new Hollywood

  • The actor, 52, moved his wife and four children to the Silver State last October
  • He has been lobbying to pass a bill to increase tax credits for film production
  • Wahlberg also bought a 2.5 acre plot of land, that he planned to build up

Mark Wahlberg has thrown his Vegas future into doubt by selling his luxury $16.6million townhouse last week – after leading the exodus from California.

The Transformers star sold the Nevada property at The Summit Club after buying it in August 2022, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

He sold his $90million 12-bedroom, 20-bathroom Beverly Hills mansion last year, and moved his family to Vegas in October.

It has raised questions over whether the star will continue with his plan to turn Nevada into Hollywood 2.0 after speaking at length about his aim to create 10,000 jobs and build a studio.

Wahlberg, 52, admitted he is pushing to create change in the tax-free Silver State, hoping to give his children a ‘better life’ in their new home.

His wife, model Rhea Durham, and his four children Ella, 20, Michael, 17, Brendan, 15 and Grace, 13, all made the move with him and reportedly like Vegas

Just months ago, he lobbied state lawmakers to pass a bill that would increase tax credits for film production from $10 million per year to $190 million over the next 20 years.

The A-Lister made a profit of more than $2million from the sale of the 7,327 square feet property, which is across two stories.

He also owns a 2.5 acre plot of land in the same area, which he bought for $15.6million last year, with plans to build out and live on.

Wahlberg’s townhouse property was reportedly purchased for the actor and his family to live in as construction begins for his new home.

A representative for  Wahlberg did not immediately respond to a request for comment by DailyMail.com.

The Summit Club features a golf course, luxury homes and, its website declares, a ‘wealth’ of amenities including ’round-the-clock security.’

His wife, model Rhea Durham, and his four children Ella, 20, Michael, 17, Brendan, 15 and Grace, 13, all made the move with him and reportedly like Vegas.

The star also operates several F45 fitness centers in Las Vegas, and owns Wahlburger restaurants at Grand Bazaar Shops at the Horseshoe and Mandalay Place.

He has made several surprise appearances as a stunt bartender at the venues, where he promotes his Flecha Azul tequila.

Speaking to CNBC in June, he said: ‘I would love to see us building studios, creating jobs and just diversifying the economy.

‘I’ve moved my last film here. I’m shooting another film here coming up in the summertime.’

He’s filmed two movies in and around Las Vegas, ‘The Family Plan’ and Flight Risk, which he wants to premier in the area at Christmas.

‘That’s the plan, as of right now. It’s not 110 percent, but that’s kind of what we’re gunning for, a Christmas release,’ Wahlberg told the Review. ‘I would love to do a big premiere here in Nevada, our new home.’

Wahlberg, who is a Christian, was one of many celebrities who made the exodus out of California in response to the state’s countless problems that have seen few fixes.

Boston-native Wahlberg lived in his Beverly Hills mansion for more than a decade, but he described his time in California almost as if it was a missed opportunity.

‘I want to be able to work from home. I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there,’ he explained.

‘So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us.’

Wahlberg moved to Nevada in hopes of getting a tax credit that would ease the creation of his proposed film studio, which he called ‘Hollywood 2.0’

His push is the latest among celebrities and states looking for a new filming capital after liberal policies in California have led to high taxes, increased ‘wokeness,’ crime and rampant homelessness.

Other celebrities have also fled the democratic state including Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and Matt Damon.

‘I think there’s so much more opportunity to be created here. There’s so much growth and so much potential, it’s a wonderful opportunity for everybody to prosper,’ Wahlberg said.

He added: ‘The average salary would be $100,000 more than what it is now. We want to train people both in front of and behind the camera, create jobs, most importantly, first and foremost, for locals.’
