Harry and Meghan unite with Royal Family as they receive Queens coffin at Buckingham Palace

Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, the new Princess of Wales, reunited with their estranged relatives Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as Her Majesty the Queen’s coffin finished its final journey to her home of Buckingham Palace.

Today marks the first time the late Queen’s coffin has been on English soil since her passing on Thursday 8 September. The 96 year old monarch passed away peacefully at her Balmoral Estate, Scotland, before being taken to Holyroodhouse.

The monarch was then transported to St Giles’ Cathedral where she laid in rest for 24 hours for members of the public to pay their respects.

From there, Her Majesty was taken to London today, Tuesday 13 September. The Queen was accompanied by her daughter Princess Anne, who said it was an “honour and a privilege” to escort her mother’s coffin.

Hundreds of people lined the streets as the coffin made its way from RAF Northolt to the Palace.

Many erupted into applause and cheers after the Queen’s coffin was driven past them as blue flashing lights from police escort vehicles lit up the dark streets.

The state hearse took the A40, Eastbourne Terrace, Lancaster Gate, Bayswater Road, Marble Arch, Park Lane, Hyde Park Corner and Constitution Hill.

Upon Her Majesty's arrival at her home of 70 years, crowds applauded and cheered the late monarch while outriders stopped with their heads bowed at the end of the journey.

The hearse carrying the coffin proceeded to drive through the Palace's archway where the likes of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla were stood waiting.

In addition to King Charles, his wife, his two sons and their spouses, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, along with Sir Tim Laurence and Sophie Wessex were also there.

Princess Beatrice and Edo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank as well as Zara Philips and Mike Tindall accompanied their family at the Palace too, Evening Standard reports.
