I have an ugly breeze block wall that made my garden gloomy – so I gave it the ultimate glow up using £20 lights | The Sun

A SELF-STYLED “plant girl” has shared how she turned her garden into “a real life fairytale” with a £20 bargain buy.

Content creator Star showcased herself installing string lights on breeze block walls with a bit of handiwork and what they looked like under nightfall.

She placed them behind her side-alley of fig trees to make the trees look like they're glowing when the lights are on.

Star described and demonstrated the process for other homemakers looking to create “a whimsical warm glow” in their garden.

“This is how I attach string lights to cinder block walls,” she started.

“All you need is a hammer and some poultry net staples.”

Star bought hers for £4 a pop in a DIY store and used them to attach 24 feet of LED outdoor string lights, which can be purchased from places like Dunelm and The Range for around £20.

“What I like to do is find a crack in the wall and add my poultry staple,” she explained while demonstrating.

“You can do it as high or low as you want and then you just secure it with a hammer.”

Star showed the hook on her string lights for fixing them to hooks.

“This is what the lights look like once they’re all set up and the sun goes down,” she continued.

“One of the main reasons I wanted to extend the lights all the way down my fig tree alley is because whenever we come to throw out the trash, it’s always really dark out here.

“But now, there’s nice ambient lighting.

“And because they’re behind the fig trees, it just makes the trees look like they’re glowing.

“It looks so beautiful.”

The garden has a “cottagecore” theme, which tries to bring a fairytale-esque aesthetic to life in the real world.

“I love the lights,” gushed one fan. “It makes the garden look magical!”

“The garden at night with lights is enchanting,” another penned under the video.
