A tiny fella resorted to extreme lengths to make himself taller and appeal to women went on his first date at his new height.

While an often recited 'type' for men is tall, dark, and handsome, Dynzell Sigers at 5ft 5ins was only two of those things. So he underwent agonising surgery to stretch himself to 6ft. He admitted to making the shocking decision after being treated "like a child" by the ladies simply for being short.

The ex-navy medic feels he has regained his "masculinity" after adding a whopping seven extra inches onto his height with two rounds of limb lengthening surgery in Turkey. And, in a special Hooked On The Look feature on the YouTube channel Truly, Dynzell put his new stature to the test on a date.

After spending $100k to achieve the new look, Dynzell from Chicago, Illinois, US, says the world is a much different place now that he's taller.

Excited about the prospect of getting out dating again, Dynzell said: "It's an opportunity to get out there and really fill out this new version of me.

"See how he interacts with the world, see how he interacts on a date.

"In the world we live in we say don't judge a book by its cover, but obviously people are judged off their appearance first.

"But I do feel like once I get back into dating my personality to be what carries me in a relationship."

To reach this point in his dating life, the music artist spent 10 days in hospital last December, plus three days in March, and this was followed by a long rehabilitation process.

Describing his wince inducing surgery, he said: "They break your bones, surgically, they cut them and they attach devices, that extend the bones over time."

The "lengthening over nail" or "LON" process is described online as having a "fixator" attached to the bone through the skin with a "screw" inside the bone.

Then the fixator is turned every six hours so the leg is "gently lengthened".

The 27-year-old had often relied on alcohol to be outgoing in social situations, and often wouldn't pursue love interests if there was taller competition.

With a 6ft father and lots of other taller men in his family, Dynzell said he grew up in his dad's shadow.

But now he says he feels he can finally emerge feeling "like more of a man than I've ever been."

Dynzell thinks the lonely nights spent at the rehabilitation centre made him mentally stronger as they were "more difficult" than any of his eight years in the navy.

In the brief documentary Dynzell met Shalunda, and towered over his date as the pair went for a hug.

He told Shalunda about his surgery, but she wasn't put off at the end of the date saying: "Conversation was very good.

"I can see us going on a few more dates, getting to know each other a lot more.

"He's going to call me for sure."

Dynzell said: "It was actually a very fun first date.

"I didn't expect to have as much fun as I did.

"I thought it would be a little bit more nerves or something

    "But everything went great.

"It was very fun time, a very beautiful girl."

He added: "It was nice to step out in the world with a lot more confidence than before.

"To be a lot more sure of yourself and not wondering what she's thinking but really just be who you are."

The video received at mix response on social media.

One viewer said: "I’m 5’7 and I dated a 5’6 man. Some of us don’t mind short kings. But good for you for going for what you want"

Another wrote: "This is so sad, and painful to watch. He does seem happy, but so unnecessary. Breaking your bones to become taller is CRAZY!!"

While a third added: "It's so rare to see a man have insecurities like this and admit it. He's a very good lookin guy and it's a bummer that people made fun of his height. Though he seems to be happy. I wish him well."
