Things took an emotional turn during the latest episode of This Morning after Alison Hammond broke down over Phillip Schofield's interview.
ITV viewers were left stunned as presenters Alison and Dermot O'Leary discussed Phillip's latest BBC interview where he spoke about his previous affair with a young collegue.
The shamed star also revealed that his daughters saved his life as he struggled with the backlash received from his controversial actions.
Sharing their thoughts on the matter during Morning Views, the presenters were joined by Gyles Brandreth as he shared the importance of "being kind".
But an emotional Alison couldn't hold back the tears, as she discussed how much Phil meant to her while highlighting that she wants "no more deaths" in the entertainment industry.
Breaking down in tears, Alison said: "I'm finding it really difficult because I loved Phillip Schofield, I love Phillip Schofield, but what he's done is wrong."
She added: "I loved Phillip Schofield. It's weird because I still love him. As a family, we're all really struggling to process everything.
"My mum always said use your bible as your sat nav. He without sin cast the first stone. I don't want to say anything bad because I am in conflict."
"There is only so much a man can take," she admitted.
Seeing Alison's emotional reaction, This Morning viewers took to Twitter in their droves.
One viewer said: "I don’t think people should mock or be cruel toward Alison Hammond for showing emotion towards Phillip Schofield. She’s not saying he hasn’t done the things he’s admitted to."
Another penned: "OOH! Interesting that they have said something today then, although it can't have been easy Dermot and Alison to have to acknowledge it-it's just that this should have been done straight from the off last Monday!"
While a third chimed: "Raw emotion from Alison re Phillip. I agree with her, it is a difficult one. He has done wrong but the witch-hunt is relentless."
In his candid interview with the BBC, Phillip said: "My girls saved my life. They said last week, they haven't left me for a moment, they have been by my side every moment because they're scared to let me out of their sight.
"What is that like for daughters to have to go through something like that?"
