BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent shares grisly injury and issues warning to co-stars

BBC Breakfast host Sally Nugent was joined on the sofa by her co-host Jon Kay as the duo spoke about Strictly Come Dancing's Christmas special.

She will be one of the many celebs joining the line-up for the pre-recorded festive performance – but it seems she was injured in the process. The telly host joined her co-star on the red sofa on Monday morning and explained she's still in pain.

After getting a glimpse of Sally's performance on screen, Jon said: "Look at you go! That's superb! Quite great company you're up against."

A mortified Sally put her face in her palm but Jon immediately told her off. He fumed: "Don't hold your head you did amazing! How are you doing? It's quite a thing.

"It's one episode as opposed to a run but it's all on that one episode." Sally explained the stint felt like a "bootcamp" adding that she's "a bit battered and bruised".

Sally admitted she was being "brave" after getting an injury on her rib – and it hasn't healed just yet. She then warned her co-host: "Don't make me laugh!"

The TV host then grabbed at her ribs and said: "Don't anyone make me laugh. It hurts too much." Despite her injuries, she added: "But it was amazing."

Later in the show Sally was joined by her professional dance partner Graziano who praised her for doing "brilliantly" for the Strictly special. But Sally admitted she'd had "nightmares" about her routine.

She said: "Oh God the pivots, I had nightmares about the pivots" as the pro dancer chuckled as he imitated her complaining: "I'm dizzy, I'm dizzy".

Sally added: "I did love it, the performance was magical, wasn't it? It was really great fun and we were with really lovely people as well. An incredible group of people."

Jon expressed his excitement about watching the show as he wrapped up the interview and said: "We're so proud of Sally and everything she did, thank you. We can't wait to watch it in full, the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, so no pressure."

The pre-recorded show will air on BBC One on December 25 from 4.40pm.
