Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) starts to have regrets in upcoming Coronation Street episodes when he learns of a murder – right when Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) is currently missing.
Damon left Weatherfield a few weeks ago after Adam’s attempt at scaring him away. The solicitor has been struggling to live his normal life after Sarah’s (Tina O’Brien) affair was revealed and thought getting rid of Damon would help him get back to how he used to be and rebuild his marriage with Sarah.
However, in upcoming episodes, Nick (Ben Price) tells Adam that a local gangster has been found dead and immediately, his mind is drawn to Damon.
This leaves Adam extremely paranoid, but will his past actions actually result in a man being killed?
‘He’s conflicted here, I think there’s actually a part of him that’s quite keen for Damon to be dead but obviously he knows if he’s implicated there’s serious jeopardy there so there’s a conflict’, Sam Robertson told us.

‘Deep down he wouldn’t be overly upset if Damon was killed but by the same token, he wants to keep his nose clean. In some ways it’s a no-lose situation but in others it’s a no win.
‘I think he’s got that in him, especially when he’s been betrayed and he feels he’s had his trust broken’, he added, wondering if Adam’s capable of dark revenge.
‘I think he’s capable of wreaking vengeance. I don’t think he could kill someone himself but maybe he could find a middleman.’
As Adam confesses what’s happened to Sarah, they are both distracted when Sarah reveals that she’s started bleeding and might be losing her baby.
Sarah being pregnant and not knowing if Adam or Damon is the father was another bombshell that rocked Adam completely. While the character previously said that he’d want Sarah to have an abortion if Damon is the dad, Sam told us that Sarah’s upcoming trip to the hospital suddenly changes things for Adam:
‘It’s a real conflict of emotions because part of him thinks maybe this won’t be a bad thing, if the baby’s lost there’s no dilemma, but I think when they’re in the hospital the reality dawns that this is not a game it’s real life and the overwhelming emotion is one of wanting the baby to survive’, he said.
‘I think the humanity of the situation overrides his personal grievances. So, it then puts him into another tailspin of emotions, he doesn’t know how to deal with it and that all stems from the scare. It was all talk at first but now the baby feels more real.’
As the difficult week continues for Adam, things start to get on top of him while he’s in court with Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), resulting in a panic attack.
‘He’s just overwhelmed by the stress of it all and it suddenly catches up with him at work’, Sam explained.
‘Everything just seems to be imploding around him but he’s his own boss, he knows he can’t just check out and have a week off to get his head straight but he’s struggling to work through it.
‘It’s tough and it’s challenging to play out but it’s important to show how stress can get on top of anyone. It’s a tough time for Adam, he’s fighting off issues left, right and centre and it’s just overwhelming him at times.’
