EastEnders fan favourite quits long-time show amid explosive schedule clash

EastEnders fan favourite Thomas Law has quit crime drama The Bay. He’s leaving after three years as cop Eddie Martin.

A show spokeswoman confirmed: “Thomas won’t be appearing in the next series of The Bay.”

It’s likely writers will have to explain fan fave Eddie’s exit in next year’s fifth series.

An insider said: “Everyone at The Bay is sad about Tom leaving. He was really popular with his co-stars and the viewers.”

Thomas ditched the show so he can return full-time to EastEnders where he made a surprise comeback as the BBC soap’s Peter Beale. It emerged Peter is living in France with his parents Ian and Cindy, played by Adam Woodyatt and Michelle Collins.

Later this year they will all return to Albert Square.

Tom has admitted it’s a dream come true to return to the soap after 13 years.

He told fans: “I’m just wanting to say how very happy I am to be back. There will be lots to look forward to, I promise.”

EastEnders’ chief Chris Clenshaw said: “One thing is for certain, the Beales’ comeback will be nothing less than explosive for the Square.”

Adam Woodyatt, meanwhile, has confirmed that settling back into his soap role was like "putting on old slippers".

He told Daily Star: "Well working with Michelle, I mean no offence has been like putting on an old pair of slippers.

"It's comfortable, it just works."

After many laughs from the audience, Michelle added: "I'll take that Adam!"

Adam continued: "The weirdest thing for me because since I've been gone, they've rebuilt the lot.

"And I got out the car yesterday morning and I sort of just got out on the right-hand side and I've looked and I've gone 'where's the square?'

"And it's literally disappeared. So that was the weirdest thing for me. The nicest thing is going back and seeing all the faces."
