Married at First Sight UK is never short of drama with arguments around every corner and unexpected issues coming up in all the relationships. The E4 dating show returned once again for its seventh outing and went down a storm with fans who had been waiting a year for its return. When it came to the show rounding up, the contestants had to decide whether or not they wanted to pursue their new relationships.

MAFS UK series seven welcomed intruder couples for the first time with new singletons entering the process midway through.

One of which was barber Matt Murray and hairdresser Gemma Rose who, as fans already know, didn’t end with a happily ever after.

There was also Sophie Brown, 26, from Manchester and 32-year-old North Yorkshire carpenter Johnathan Wileman.

There appeared to be a bit of a class barrier at the wedding but there was clearly some chemistry between the newlyweds.

Johnathan wasn’t afraid to share his controversial opinions which didn’t go down well with viewers and his wife at times.

On top of this, they didn’t have as much time to get to know each other as the other couples so it was assumed they would agree to go their separate ways.

However, in a twist of events, Sophie and Johnathan both chose to keep their relationship going in MAFS UK’s final commitment ceremony.

This decision was one that Heart’s Bingo’s relationship expert Dr Callisto Adams wasn’t expecting.

She told Express.co.uk: “Sophie and Johnathan surprised me with their decision to renew their vows.

“It seemed that they were both aware of the troubles waiting ahead once the couple would move their fragile relationship into reality and out of the experiment.

“They’ve had their clashes, however, they never sat down and fully solved their issues.

“They’ve left things unfinished, unsaid, and half resolved.

“Their willingness to give it a try is admirable, however, it’s surprising as well considering the obstacles waiting ahead in their future.”

But as avid watchers of the reality show already know, their romance did in fact come to an end.

It was revealed in the reunion show that their relationship started to go south when the series finished.

They remained in regular contact but as friends rather than lovers, unfortunately.

Johnathan also had to hear harsh words from one of the marriage experts.

While it was their time to speak to the experts about their previous relationship, Johnathan was in for a grilling.

Mel Schilling told the carpenter that he needed to “grow up” as he was an adult but wasn’t acting like it when it came to his love life.

He seemed more aware of how his words could impact those around him following his telling off.

Johnathan went on to thank the rest of the cast for being “instrumental” in helping make him a better person.

Sophie has been regularly posting on her food Instagram page since the show finished.

She has been enjoying meals out with friends and sharing pictures of the delicious dinners on her page @sophsbigeats.

Meanwhile, Johnathan has been seen spending more quality time with his family.

MAFS UK season 7 is available to watch on All4.
