Love Islands Ekin-Su and Davide beat Gemma and Luca to be crowned 2022 winners

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti have been crowned winners of the eighth series of Love Island.

Host Laura Whitmore announced the couple received the most votes from the public during Monday's (August 1) finale live from the villa.

The pair won over the nation with their love story after eight weeks of drama, tears and romance.

Four couples made it through the 2022 final and each pair read out their emotional declarations of love to each other in a pre-recorded segment before Laura revealed the results live.

Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page came in fourth place and it was later revealed that Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack landed third place.

Gemma Owen and Luca Bish were just pipped to the post as Ekin-Su and Davide were crowned champions.

The winning couple have been flooded with supported messages from fans online.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "I just screamed so loud. Well done Ekin and Davide."

Another added: "Absolutely deserved, Well done Ekin and Davide."

A third person posted: "Ekin-Su and Davide are deffo the best winners in Love Island history."

While a fourth social media user said:

Fans don't have long to wait for their next Love Island fix as a winter edition of the dating show will return next year alongside the regular summer series.

Kicking off at the start of 2023, a new batch of islanders will be shipped off to South Africa in the hopes of finding their perfect match.
