Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley welcomed Richard McCann on their show to talk about an upcoming series.
McCann has worked closely with ITV ahead of the release of their upcoming drama about Peter Sutcliffe titled The Long Shadow. McCann previously explained that he asked ITV not to use "The R word" in the title.

The son of Wilma McCann previously said he was pleased ITV didn't use Peter Sutcliffe's famous moniker in the title of the programme release. As he joined the GMB hosting duo, Richard Madeley made a brief mention of the moniker, leaving fans online frustrated.
On the morning show, Madeley explained that ITV had avoided calling Sutcliffe the "Yorkshire Ripper", before adding: "And that's the last time I'm going to say it here", prompting a lot of backlash.
McCann then explained it's a "triggering word", as he added: "If you think about what that word is trying to describe, for the family members it reminds us of the horror of what he did to the women.
"I think the media and police should not be using this moniker because it creates this picture of them that's not a reality."
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote: "Why would Richard say the name in front of him if it's triggering?" While another said: "That's it Madeley, use a moniker that the guy never wants to hear."
A third wrote: "Richard Madeley should be nowhere near these kind of interviews," as a fourth said: "That was a painful watching Madeley interview one of the sons of Sutcliffe's victims. Not only did he say "Yorkshire Ripper" in front of him, he ends with "fascinating I could talk to you all day."
While a fourth said the interview was "insensitive". The interview comes ahead of the launch of series The Long Shadow, which was originally meant to be called The Yorkshire Ripper, but show writer George Kay made a title change out of respect for the victims.
The Long Shadow has launched on ITVX and tells the story of the murders between 1975 and 1980, with stories of the relatives, survivors and detectives included.
