Nicola Adams has revealed she was in an "absolute panic" when her IVF baby came a month early.

The former Strictly star, 39, welcomed a son named Taylor Nate Adams with her girlfriend Ella Baig in July this year.

Appearing on Thursday's episode (October 20) of This Morning, Nicola and Ella revealed the boxing star was left in a frazzled state when Ella's waters broke in the middle of the night – a month before Taylor's due date.

Ella said: "I woke up and thought I'd wet myself.

"I told Nikki to ring the hospital, she said 'what's the number?' and had a sheer panic."

Nicola added: "I was in an absolute panic.

"I was like, 'what do you mean?' We haven't even had the baby shower yet. It hadn't sunk in properly yet."

Ella added: "He ruined the baby shower!"

Nicola and Ella will star in ITV Be documentary Nicola Adams: IVF and Me.

The one-off programme will air on Thursday night (October 20) and see the couple recount their IVF struggles, which saw them endure three heartbreaking miscarriages.

During the chat with Alison and Dermot, Ella also revealed she almost gave up on their hopes of welcoming a child after the couple's third miscarriage.

Recalling the "emotionally challenging" process, Ella said: "I definitely, after the second time when I wanted to try again I said 'if it doesn't work this time, I need a break.'

"It's really emotionally challenging because it's just a constant up and down.

"You don't know whether to be happy, you don't know whether to just switch off your emotions and try and ride through it. and it's supposed to be a nice experience.

"It can be really really hard."

This Morning airs from 10am on weekdays on ITV.
