What cosmetic procedure did Linda Evangelista have? | The Sun

LINDA Evangelista has appeared on the cover of British Vogue for the first time since saying she had been "deformed" by a cosmetic procedure which went terribly wrong.

The supermodel was one of the best-known faces on catwalks and magazine covers in the 1990s and 2000s.

What cosmetic procedure did Linda Evangelista have?

According to Linda, she had undergone a CoolSculpting procedure to 'decrease' her fat cells.

She opened up about how she had developed paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) from the fat-freezing treatment five years ago.

In February 2022, the supermodel spoke with People about her "Fat-Freezing Nightmare."

She was reportedly been living in "seclusion" but is now saying she is "done hiding."

"I loved being up on the catwalk. Now I dread running into someone I know," she told the outlet.

"I can't live like this anymore, in hiding and shame. I just couldn't live in this pain any longer. I'm willing to finally speak."

Linda Evangelista’s life out of the spotlight after botched surgery

Supermodel Linda Evangelista said this about CoolSculpting

The outlet reported that within three months after her treatments, she started noticing bulges at her "chin, thighs and bra area."

The model has undergone multiple liposuction surgeries in order to correct the PAH damage.

"I don't recognize myself physically, but I don't recognize me as a person any longer either. She [Linda the supermodel] is sort of gone."

What effects did the cosmetic procedure have on her?

CoolSculpting is meant to ‘decrease’ the fat cells, but Linda’s treatment seemed to have had the adverse effect of ‘increasing’ her fat cells.

This is called Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, which is a rare, and previously unreported effect of cryolipolysis.

PAH has a rate of incidence of 0.0051% of the 1.5m CoolSculpting procedures performed worldwide.

The results of the treatment start to become noticeable after a few weeks, whilst it is painless the area will have become visibly enlarged and firm.

What has she said about the procedure?

It's nearly been a year since Linda Evangelista said she had disappeared from the spotlight because she had been "brutally disfigured" by the non-surgical fat reduction procedure.

But in a new interview with British Vogue, she revealed how she deeply regrets her choices.

"If I had known side-effects may include losing your livelihood and you'll end up so depressed that you hate yourself… I wouldn't have taken that risk," she explained.

Linda said she had been attracted to the procedure by its advertising and her own vanity.

"Those CoolSculpting commercials were on all the time, on CNN, on MSNBC, over and over, and they would ask, 'Do you like what you see in the mirror?' They were speaking to me.

"It was about stubborn fat in areas that wouldn't budge. It said no downtime, no surgery and… I drank the magic potion, and I would because I'm a little vain. So I went for it – and it backfired."

Who is Linda Evangelista?

Linda was best known in the 90s as one of the world's six supermodels – including Naomi, Cindy, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington and Kate Moss.

She got into modelling at the age of 16 after taking part in the Miss Teen Niagara beauty pageant where she was talent spotted.

Linda dominated the catwalk becoming one of the most famous people for her distinct cheekbones and striking blue eyes.

Rising to fame in the late 80s she dramatically cut off her hair which was not well received by the fashion industry, but eventually became known as 'The Linda' and a worldwide fashion trend.

She famously penned the quote, "we don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day" and has graced more than 700 magazine covers.

Linda made her return to modelling in 2001 after a brief hiatus and appeared on the cover of Vogue of 2006 while pregnant with her son, Augustin.
